Feelin' Groovy...

Gruner Veltliner is arguably THE grape of Austria.  More Gruner Veltliner is planted than any other varietal in Austria and it is exclusively grown in that country.  Never heard of it?  Never say never - you just heard of it from me.  The Gru-Vee (kinda cool - that really is an acceptable term for it) makes a perfect summer wine.  It's clean, refreshing, has crisp minerality, fragrance, and goes very well with food.  Think a cross between a Sauvignon Blanc and a Reisling.  Has the body and structure of a Reisling, and the fruity acid of a Sauv Blanc.

Tonight I'm sipping Velt. 1.  Packaged in a cool clear bottle with a chic label (if a good wine is bottled with style - all the better), this one is clean and crisp with a hint of pepper. Pick up a bottle of this or any Gru Vee this week and let me know your thoughts.
