Appropriate Meal Time

This evening on the way to dinner, my friend and I decided to take a quick look in the local pet shop. I had previously visited the shop before and wished to show her the two huge boa constrictors. Upon entering, we made a beeline straight for the snake cage. When I got close, my first thought was that the snakes were no longer there because I saw a large, white, red-eyed rabbit. Just as I was getting ready to tell her the disappointing news, I realized that the snakes were still there. One was curled up in the corner, but the other was slowing creeping in for what was soon to be dinner. We were not the only ones shocked. There was a family in the store at the same time, and we overheard the upset children exclaim to their parents, “It’s still alive!” We understand that all animals have a need to eat, but there is a time for everything. When we walked into the PET store, we didn’t expect to see a display typical of the Discovery Channel. The pet shop should consider the feelings of customers when deciding to allow this to occur during operating store hours. Perhaps they could reconsider the feeding schedule of the animals that require live prey in the form of a would-be pet.Concerned,
