Vera Bradley Bingo
Richardsville VFD & Rescue will hold a Vera Bradley Bingo Saturday, Aug. 23rd. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with Bingo starting at 6:30. Cost of the Bingo is $20.00 for 12 regular games. Specials and Raffle tickets sold separately. Food will be sold. For more information call Phyllis at 399-1122.
Meeting scheduled
The regular meeting of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission will be held Wednesday, Aug. 27, at 1:00 p.m. at the Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission Offices, 420 Southridge Parkway, Suite 106.
Fill the trailer
Remington United Methodist Church will have a recycle Sunday challenge, starting Saturday, Aug. 30, and ending Sunday the 31st. Items accepted are bagged or tied newspapers, baged aluminum cans and old automotive batteries. Bring your stuff to the church at 150 West Bowen Street after 5 p.m. For information call 439-2579 Tuesday-Friday from 9 a.m. until noon.
Karaoke night
The Sons of The American Legion will present a night of Karaoke singing on Saturday, Aug. 23. This is a family affair at the American Legion Post on Route 229. General admission is $5 – A $10 entry fee if you want to sing in the contest. Food and beverages will be available.

'Little Darlin'
Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs will present a night of beach music at the Aug. 21 Third Thursday concert. Williams gave us such hit songs as Stay, Little Darlin, and May I. Tickets are $7 for those 21 and over. Food and beverages are available for purchase. The event is scheduled to begin a 5 p.m. and end at 9.
Win a million
The Panther Classic golf tournament, which helps support Rappahannock County athletics, is scheduled Sept. 27 at Bowling Green Country Club's north course. It is a four-player team event, with a shotgun start of 9 a.m. Registration is $300 per team. One golfer will be picked to take a chance at winning $1 million ($25,000 per year for 40 years). All he has to do is make a hole-in-one. Every entrant will have a chance at a new Ford Focus. Same deal. Make a hole-in-one on a selected hole. To register make checks payable to RCSSA, P.O. Dog Days sale
The Rappahannock County Democratic Committee's annual Dog Days of August yard sale is scheduled Saturday, Aug. 23, at The Link (also known as Schoolhouse) in Sperryville. The sale includes everything from jewelry to pet supplies. It also includes a boutique and collector's corner.
Sheriff's golf tourney
The Sheriff’s 10th Annual Golf Tournament will be held on Aug. 25, at the Country Club of Culpeper. This annual event will benefit “Shop with a Cop”, Culpeper Senior Nutrition Center, and Free Clinic of Culpeper. Sponsorships and golf teams are still needed. Old Dominion Show
The Old Dominion Show, the premiere draft animal show in the state, is scheduled Saturday, Sept. 6, at HITS Commonwealth Park. Sponsored by the Virginia Draft Horse and Mule Association, the show presents draft horses, half-drafts, draft ponies, mules and donkeys in halter, riding and driving classes. Farm classes include log skidding, bale moving, obstacles, antique equipment, work hitches, and driving. Admission is $5 for everybody older than age 10.
