CULPEPER -- Culpeper County Public Schools and the Culpeper Christian School will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 17, in anticipation of the biggest winter storm so far this season.

Only 12-month employees are to report to the public school system today.

As of 7 a.m. this morning, the region remains under a winter storm warning effective until midnight.

The National Weather Service is calling for 2 to 4 inches of snow before the precipitation turns over to sleet and rain this afternoon. Hazardous roadways could create havoc on the evening rush hour. VDOT urges motorists to proceed with caution this afternoon.
