4th of July Celebration Guide

July Fourth happenings:
 

  • Independence Day Celebration at The Inn at Kelly's Ford: 5:30 p.m. until after dark, 14674 Rogers Ford Road, Sumerduck. Sit back and enjoy the classic sounds of Leggz. Moon Bounce & Pony Rides.   • Children and Pets Parade: 10:00 a.m. Main Street in Old Town Warrenton. Families, youth groups, marching bands, strolling entertainment and pets are welcome. Bring anything that rolls--strollers, bikes, wagons, scooters, tricycles, carts, etc. Decorating starts at 9:30 a.m. at 5th and Main Street. Ice Cream provided by Carousel for the children after the parade. Entertainment by the Fauquier Community Band. For more information call 349-8606.

  • Fourth of July Celebration at Great Meadow: 4:00 p.m. at Great Meadow, The Plains. The fireworks are amazing as they light up the dark sky and the hills of the Virginia Piedmont. There’s something for everyone with pony rides, aerial displays, rock walls, petting farms, rural living demonstrations and much, much more. For more information call 253-5001.

  • Fourth of July in Downtown Culpeper: 10:00 a.m. until dark on Main Street, Davis Street, and Yowell Meadow Park. The July 4th Celebration is a safe, fun, and affordable event that represents not only our heritage, but also a strong sense of community spirit. People of all ages, from all walks of life find pleasure and enjoyment in the day's activities. The day is filled with sporting events, patriotic speeches, an antique car & bike show, a festive parade, amusements for children and adults, and entertainment.   • Celebrate America: 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in Old Town Manassas. Come join in the celebration of America festival. Enjoy live music, children’s activities, food and a fireworks extravaganza. Largest fireworks show in Northern Virginia and fun for the entire family. For more information, call (703) 361-6599.

  • Street Closings:

    • The Culpeper Police Department announces the upcoming street closures and parking restrictions during the festivities celebrating the Fourth of July in the Town of Culpeper. Signs will be posted in all affected areas and towing will be enforced:
    • At 4:00 a.m., both the Yowell Meadow Park parking lot, off of Blue Ridge Avenue, and East Davis Street parking lot will be closed due to 4th of July vendor and CRI Car Show set up. Both parking lots will be closed until the early morning of July 5, 2008.
    • From 6 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., the 100 and 200 blocks of East and West Davis streets will be closed for the annual CRI Car Show. There will also be no parking along Davis Street during these times. The parking lot at the intersection of Commerce and East Davis streets will also be closed.
    • From 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., Blue Ridge Avenue will be closed to all through traffic due to the 5K Run. All local traffic will be detoured to West Street during this event.
    • From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Piedmont Street from Main Street to Old Brandy Road and around to Wine Street and Main Street from Piedmont Street to Mason Street will be closed to all traffic and parking due to the parade. Old Brandy Road from the Town Access Road to Piedmont Street also will be closed to through traffic. Traffic will be re-routed using other streets.
    • At 3 p.m., a portion of Blue Ridge Avenue., from Sperryville Pike (Route 522) to Scanlon Street will be closed to all through traffic due to the festivities in Yowell Meadow Park. This portion of Blue Ridge Avenue will not re-open until the fireworks are over. Also at 3:00 p.m., Gardner Street will also be closed to all traffic.
