Mark Warner to visit Charlottesville

Former Governor Mark Warner will visit Charlottesville on Tuesday, May 6 as part of the official launch of his Senate campaign.

The event will take place at 2:15 p.m. in the downtown mall in front of City Hall.

The campaign stops will highlight Warner's career as Virginia's 69th Governor, says his campaign team. Warner will visit 11 localities, each one representing a region of the Commonwealth.

"I am proud of the bipartisan way we governed in Richmond and our solid record of results," former Governor Warner said. "Working together, we acted responsibly to fix Virginia's finances, we created jobs and opportunity in areas hit hard by economic change, and we also made significant improvements in our public schools and colleges."

Warner first announced his candidacy for the Senate seat in September, after long-time Senator John warner announced his retirement. If Warner wins the nomination, he will face off against either former Governor Jim Gilmore or Delegate Bob Marshall in November.
