Sallie Morgan, Project Director of the Aging Together Partnership, was acknowledged for her contributions in the field of aging at the April 17 meeting of the Aging Together Coordinating Council.

Morgan joined the Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services Board in 1976 to establish the Area Agency on Aging. At the time the program consisted of senior centers in each county. During her tenure aging services have expanded to include personal care, respite, adult day care, transportation, home delivered meals, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and winterization services.

In 1994 she added to her responsibilities the role of Director of Community Support. In this capacity she is directly responsible for programs serving seniors and people with disabilities including case management, housing, and day support services. She has twice served as Chair of the Virginia Association of Area Agencies on Aging and served one term as Chair of the Virginia State Mental Retardation Council. She is currently a member of the Culpeper Regional Hospital Foundation Board.

Morgan is credited for leading the community in the development of the Aging Together partnership, bringing seniors, service providers, local government and all citizens together to create a quality community in which to age. Senator Edd Houck and Delegate Ed Scott, present at the meeting, noted their respect and admiration for Ms. Morgan’s long term commitment and contributions to seniors in the five county area.

The Aging Together Partnership is part of the national Community Partnerships for Older Adults (CPFOA) initiative. CPFOA is a national program funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to help communities develop leadership, innovative solutions and options to meet the needs of older adults over the long term.
