Police have found Kimberly Lane, who went missing Monday, May 26, and set off a county-wide manhunt.

Police locate missing teen

An 18-year-old woman reported missing to Culpeper Police Monday has been found safe at a house on Highview Court shortly before 1 p.m. today.

Kimberly Nicole Lane, the subject of a search by police, scent-sniffing dogs and volunteer search and rescue workers, called her sister after hearing news reports that police were looking for her. The sister called police who found the girl at a friend’s house.

On Monday, about 11 p.m., Lane, of the 800 block of Old Rixeyville Road, was reported missing from her Culpeper home by her sister, with whom she lived. On Tuesday night, the sister told police that Lane had medical issues, prompting police to conduct an immediate search of the area. She also told police that prior to her sister’s disappearance, Lane had been involved in a domestic argument, but that there was no report of domestic violence.

Police called for assistance to help determine the whereabouts of the missing woman. Volunteers from Virginia Search and Rescue, a bloodhound from Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office and town police searched last night and continue searching today for the missing woman.

Police say that Lane didn’t take any clothes and has no cell phone or credit cards.

Lane has no relatives in the area besides her sister, who reported her missing.

Besides dogs, a state police helicopter remained on stand-by at State Police 2nd Division Headquarters in Culpeper to assist with an aerial search.

Culpeper Police Chief Scott Barlow credited the immediate and positive response by the local media for their assistance in locating Lane so quickly.

Personnel from the Virginia State Police, Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office, Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia Search and Rescue assisted town police in the 18-hour search for Lane.

No charges have been filed at this time.

Good job on the sister's part in not calling all of her friends before setting-off a police search & rescue effort.
Not only did it cost the town/county $$, but now the entire community knows of this girl's health problems/mental issues for no apparent reason.
Nice going, sis. Duh.
