A two-car collision resulted in the death of Alana Michelle Hester, 17, of Amissville, Thursday.

Hester, a Culpeper High School senior, died at the scene of the accident, said Virginia State Police Sgt. Les Tyler. Hester was driving a 2006 Toyota Corolla 4-door as she pulled of the parking lot at Pearl Sample Elementary onto Route 15/29 business.

Tyler said she pulled into the path of a 2002 Ford F-650 truck going southbound and towing a large wood chipper. The truck broadsided the car, causing the trailer to jackknife.

The truck was owned by Kenny Jenkins Tree Service and Landscaping. The truck's driver, William N. Hoyt, 41 and an unidentified male passenger were unharmed, said Tyler. So far, Hoyt is not considered to be at fault. Everyone involved was wearing seat belts.

The accident closed the road down for three hours and state police were assisted by the Culpeper County Sheriff's Office, Culpeper Police Department, Co. 11, and Culpeper Volunteer Fire Department, Co 1. The investigating office is S.J. Riddle.
